So my ex-workmate dropped by for a few hours yesterday to check out some old vinyl and the digital mixing set up that can all be had with 2 turntables, a mixer, a laptop, computer software and a USB interface. Yeah, it is a lot of stuff, but at the end of the day you have the best of both worlds and all the music you want at your fingertips. After 1/2 hour we ditched the digital and got down to business with the real vinyl.
Even though he has been out of the mix for a few years, from the moment he touched the turntable I knew he was no stranger to fader and faderless scratch techniques. Before you knew it, we were about 2 hours in, and blending tracks (me on TT1, him on TT2). The possibilities are endless.
However, I had to humble myself a bit because since everyone has a different style, it is difficult when two people are settling down into the mix to say who is better than who. Some deejays scratch hard, some with finesse, some with both. At the end of the day, a badly executed scratch is a badly executed scratch, no matter who does it, and when you are at least 2, you have to check yourself - you now have a witness!
You have to stay on point. Always.

Hey man! I thought I responded earlier to this message, but I am not sure if it got sent.
Anyway, how are you? You married yet or coming back to Sweden to find a Swedish bride?
I love the deejaying but don't really have the time. But I still just enjoy it when I can.
How's everything with you? You still work with/talk to Sunil?
