An image of the true Swede - blonde and blue eyed.
The image of a Swede - as in Trinidad, mixed up all kind ah how.
Why? Because for every possible reason, people have moved to Sweden and before long, babies were made. These babies then grew up, looked around, saw others just like them, and despite the lack of blonde hair or blue eyes, or both, they knew they were Swedish anyway.
In Malmo the struggle continues to reclaim a way of life that was and should continue to be - a controled but happy and peaceful society, where everybody just gets along because they 'get it'. There is no need to tell people to behave; they just do. And those that don't are looked at funny or giving the title of 'special' until they calm down, get their shit back together, and settle back down.
Malmo has a high influx of immigrants, some arriving here not so much by choice, but by necessity. The lifestyles that some of these people are leaving behind is all that they know, and arriving in this land without prior knowledge of the society, the expectations of said society, or the reprecussions of non-integration into this society, leaves them stranded.
Some of these people are at a loss and need help to find their way.
Others don't really give a shit and just work hard doing whatever to make ends meet.
Then there are the 'other' others who don't really give a shit and continue to do the same shit that they did before
- beat and rob people to get what they don't have
- sell drugs and/or guns to buy what they want
- organize criminal activity on the scale of being able to destroy the very fabric of a society and all that it had come to stand for
When you start talking about Malmo taking back control, increasing police presence in certain areas and suggesting deportation of the un-wanteds, you often get the race card being played. What I don't understand is how race has anything to do with enforcing your laws. I posted this brief comment on thelocal.se in response to an article about this very issue (under the moniker Shredder). If you can't find it, then here is the actual post:
Funny how the racism card always gets thrown in...
I have lived in Sweden for 4 years now, with a resident permit, and have recently applied for Swedish citizenship. I see no obstacle in my path that would prevent it from being granted to me even though I am a 36 year old black man who has been on the unemployed/employed rollercoaster and didn't decide that a life of crime would be the better path.
We all have choices.
So, whatever ethic background you may be, if you come here and decide to play the ass, then how does race factor into the consequences you inevitably invite upon yourself? How can a society that wants to maintain the safety of all its peoples, of all denominations, be wrong for wanting to expel the very people who threaten that very attainable reality?
At the end of the day, it's your village/town/city/country. Set your rules, apply your laws, and if they are disregarded and broken, then let the punishment take its due course.
